Divorce & Family Mediation

Helping New Jersey Families Resolve Divorce and Family Law Matters Through Mediation
Mediation offers an alternative to traditional divorce litigation by allowing couples to work toward mutually acceptable agreements with the assistance of a neutral third party. Rather than having a judge make decisions about important family and financial matters, mediation gives both parties an opportunity to participate directly in developing solutions that address their individual circumstances.
At The Law Office of Agnes Rybar, LLC, we provide divorce and family mediation services for individuals throughout Ocean County, Monmouth County and surrounding New Jersey communities. Our goal is to facilitate productive discussions, identify areas of agreement and help parties resolve outstanding issues without unnecessary court involvement.
What Issues Can Be Resolved Through Family Mediation?
Divorce and family mediation can address many of the same issues that arise during traditional divorce proceedings. Depending on the circumstances, mediation may involve:
- Division of marital property, assets and debts
- Alimony and other financial arrangements
- Child custody and parenting time
- Child support and children’s expenses
- Other matters involving divorce and family settlement agreements
Mediation provides a structured environment for discussing these issues, exchanging relevant information and exploring possible resolutions. The process can also allow parties to develop customized arrangements that address their family’s specific needs.
The Divorce and Family Mediation Process
Unlike traditional negotiations between opposing attorneys, mediation involves working with a neutral professional who facilitates discussions between both parties. The mediator does not represent either individual, make decisions on their behalf or provide either party with independent legal advice.
During mediation sessions, the parties identify outstanding issues, discuss their respective positions and explore potential compromises. The number of sessions and time required depend on the complexity of the issues and the progress made toward reaching an agreement.
Once the parties reach an understanding, the proposed terms can be documented for review. Each party is encouraged to consult an independent attorney before signing a final settlement agreement.
Qualified Family Mediation and Court Experience
Attorney Agnes Rybar has completed the training required to qualify as a family mediator under New Jersey Court Rule 1:40. She also serves as a volunteer panelist on the New Jersey Courts’ Early Settlement Panel and is included on the court’s roster of economic mediators.
Her background in New Jersey family law and experience with court-related settlement procedures provide valuable insight into the financial and practical considerations involved in divorce and family mediation.
Whether addressing property division, financial support or parenting arrangements, the objective is to help parties communicate effectively, evaluate available options and work toward agreements that can provide a foundation for moving forward.
